Experience...
I've been building websites since 1995. I started coding pages for the early browsers like Mosaic and Netscape, and was 'out here' building websites before Microsoft even had a browser! I've often heard that Internet Years are like 'dog years' (due to the fact that Internet technology changes so rapidly). That being the case, 14 Internet years would be equivalent to 98 human years. During those years I have seen fads come and go, but the basics remain the same and the best kept secrets to success are solid design and standards-compliant coding.
